Policy Advisor - Prudential Regulation

The Client

Our clent is a federation for insurance and reinsurance in Europe. Through its 36 member bodies, the national insurance associations, our client represents all types and sizes of insurance and reinsurance undertakings. Our client is based in Brussels and represents undertakings that account for around 95% of total European premium income. Insurance makes a major contribution to Europe’s economic growth and development. European insurers pay out almost €1 000bn annually, or €2.7bn a day in claims, and directly employ nearly 920 000 people and invest over €10.6trn in the Economy. Our client is now looking to hire a Policy Advisor in Prudential Regulation. You will have the opportunity to participate in projects that will influence the European insurance industry in the coming years.


Requirements


  • Monitor and analyse EU and international developments in prudential regulation, particularly Solvency II.

  • Synthesise client members' feedback, preparing papers reflecting European industry views on technical and political issues related to prudential regulation.

  • Build consensus among industry stakeholders, supporting decision-making in Insurance Europe's working groups.

  • Contribute to Europe's lobbying strategy, liaising with legislative and regulatory bodies such as the European Commission, EIOPA, and the European Parliament.

  • Represent the client in seminars, conferences, and industry groups, collaborating with EIOPA.

  • Report directly to the head of Prudential Regulation, coordinating closely on responsibilities.

Profile

  • Hold a university degree (e.g., economics, finance, actuarial science, business administration) with at least three years of professional experience.

  • Possess experience in risk management or compliance within insurance or banking, whether in an insurer, bank, consultancy, or national supervisory authority.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, adaptability to diverse audiences, and effective synthesis of feedback.

  • Actively listen with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Goal-oriented, self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Exhibit competence and persuasiveness in the area of expertise, along with good interpersonal skills.
