Director, Public Affairs
Team: Public Affairs (Policy & Regulatory + Communications & Public Relations)
Overview:
Lead the organisation’s advocacy, government engagement, and public profile. Senior leadership role requiring strategic vision, political acumen, and strong relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Government & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop lobbying strategies; build relationships with government, regulators, and media; represent the organisation at hearings and consultations; lead advocacy campaigns; manage stakeholder mapping.
- Policy & Advocacy: Monitor political and regulatory developments; develop advocacy plans; draft position papers and submissions; coordinate member input.
- Communications & Reputation: Oversee communications strategy, public affairs campaigns, media engagement, thought leadership, and crisis response.
- Member Engagement: Provide updates on policy, messaging, and political developments; mobilise members in advocacy efforts.
- Leadership & Management: Lead Policy & Regulatory and Communications teams; manage external providers; co-lead Advocacy Steering Group; coach and develop staff, foster positive culture, and align teams with organisational strategy.
